Why Deep Culture is Critical for Business

As the world moves away from one-size-fits-all treaties, more emphasis on comprehending seemingly unknowable motivation, based as it often is on an entirely different value system, will increasingly be required. The philosopher Giambattista Vico thought that cultures had their own vision of reality of the world in which they lived. These unique visions were infused with its past, its experience of nature and its strivings. These visions cannot be understood through evaluation but rather must be understood on their own terms. Vico believed that with great effort one could do so, and it is the understanding of cultures on their terms and doing so with great effort that forms the meaning underlying our concept of Deep Culture. For more on this topic, see the Mythostrategies Introductory Video. For our research book inspired by Vico on Japanese culture, see our 3-book series Sacred Images of Japan
